What are your favorite summer activities?
Hello AlzheimersDisease.net family! I am just wondering what summer activities you are enjoying or enjoying with your loved ones.
My mom, dad, and I used to like to go and look at light houses. It was something I did growing up. So it is something that I tried to continue to do with them. We would take a drive on a nice day and look at light houses.
My mom was excited in the picture below, because it was her first official selfie. To me those are the important memories and moments in life.
-What are some activities you enjoy or enjoy to do with your loved ones?
-Would you please post some photos of those special and fun moments? I can not wait to see them!!!

I love the photo of you and your mom! We haven't done that much fun lately, except get a new puppy! It suddenly got hot and the smoke from the Canadian fires have kept us inside a lot. We also enjoy the bird feeders outside our window.
thanks for reaching out and sharing a picture of your mom. You got a new puppy, so adorable! Your mom looks so happy holding the new puppy. Yes, the air quality in certain areas has not been good as a result of the Canadian fires. My mom loved to watch bird too. Bird feeders are so great for attracting various bird types. We go to Florida every year at the same time for a month and for a week our daughter's and their sons join us! I look forward to it, as it is the same house with the same people and we do lovely things! This year we went on a boat trip and dolphins followed us!

This has been a very tough year and I didn't think I would make it to Florida. I was Dx with melanoma and the chemo was ruthless and didn't work. I was in a hospital bed unable to get up from March to May. My hospice nurse suggested to give Bill some respite that I go to a wonderful place called Rosary Care. They got me eating, walking and attending activities and Mass. Everyone thought it was a miracle! So now it has metatasized to the bone, I found out just before FL they are sending me for one last effort to radiation oncology. I did not want to go but Bill wants me to go
How are you doing? I completely forgot how to get on the site. and someone sent me an article and I clicked on it and so I might be able. to write again. But I never forgot you and our connection of friendship.

I have missed talking with you. Sometimes i don't know if it's a seizure, the chemo effects or the Alz. I was able to go to an AlAnon meeting and several members were very very faithful about visiting me and sending me cards. During the meeting one woman talk about how grateful she was for the support she had while her husband was dying,, but she is happy because he had Alzheimer's and now he is dead and she can move on with her life. Then another woman talked about having her husband in a locked facility has made it great for her to move on with her life like literally move, go to Bingo and such of course she got a bunch of applause, while I was almost to the point where I had forgotten it
. One of the principles of the program it to not take it personally. They don't know me, they don't know my story. That would make me sad, too. I hated seeing the residents who didn't have visitors. That's why we tried to make it feel like home, and let them know they were loved. The universe sends souls where they are needed to fill in the gaps. If you go to Rosary Care, I think your experience would be more like one of my ladies whose family visited her every day, and crowds on the weekend, her children, grandchildren and friends.
