My name is Pam! I am a contributor and moderator here. My mom lived with Alzheimer's for many years and passed away almost 2 years ago. For many years I was her primary caregiver, along with my dad. Not a day goes by that I don't miss her and think of her. My memories of her strength and grace encourage me to make the most of every day! Warmly, Pam-Community Moderator

Hey there I'm Nikki a contributor, moderator and fulltime caregiver for my mom who is in the end stages of Alzheimers. I have been a caregiver for my mom for over 10 years and as a result of being on this journey, I have taken our story as a mission to encourage and motivate others about mental health and on how to become a savage for their self-care. Wellness is a practice that should and can be implemented daily. In fact incorporating wellness daily has lasting positive effects on the psyche and serotonin levels. I am excited to share and contribute more about this AND our story.

My name is Alice and I am the caregiver for my 80 year old mother who was diagnosed over 3 years ago. She lives with me and I have the support of my best friend who helps me take care of my mom and also I have 2 home health aides who care for her during the day so I can work. I haven’t given myself license fo go on vacation or take a break but I’m learning that my wellness is important.

good for you for learning how important your wellness is. Along this caregiving journey it can be quite easy to fall into the habit of caring more for our loved ones than for ourselves but balance always wins out in these situations (I learned that the hard way lol). Wellness gives us back our energy and helps us to stay present with our selves. Alice it sounds like you have set up an incredible care team for your mother... you are amazing and not only that but you are DESERVING of a vacation. I hope you will give yourself license for one soon... Nikki, Community Moderator.
