Why does a fall trigger Alz decline?

I am wondering why a fall triggers advancement of Alzhiemers? It did for my Dad, and I've heard medical staff repeat that thought.

  1. Hi , while you're waiting for feedback from the community, I wanted to share an article that I hope will provide some answers:
https://www.ultimatecareny.com/resources/can-a-fall-accelerate-dementia-59340#:~:text=How%20falls%20influence%20cognitive%20and,or%20exhibiting%20signs%20of%20dementia. = Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

  2. When a person with Alzheimer's has a fall, the whole event is very stressful for the brain. The injury, the hospital visit, and the change in where they are can suddenly make their confusion and memory problems seem much worse. The fall itself doesn't speed up the disease, but the shock and strain on the body can cause a quick and noticeable drop in their abilities.
