Living in the Dark

Living in the Dark

He moves from room to room,
Around in circles he goes.
Searching for this or that,
Like some tormented soul.

Dog treats in the coffeemaker,
Papers tucked here and there.
Frozen magazine articles,
All placed with special care.

I never know what he's thinking,
His words now have no reason or rhyme,
Oh, and water is his favorite thing,
He leaves it running all the time...

Living with this disease is a challenge,
How can anyone possibly understand?
My husband is no longer,
It's just a wedding band.

Still, my love will never waver,
Even though he can't reply.
I will love, cherish, and honor him,
Till the day I die.
