Daylight Savings

Some people are highly affected by daylight savings and some are not. I find that closing the blinds early and turning on a few more lights in the house helps me keep my attitude bright!

What are some tricks you use to during the dark months?

  1. I bring on a D vitamin to help with the happy and replace that vitamin that was previously provided by the sun. I also use an alarm that introduces light into the room to help me to wake up at a good hour, despite the sun not being up! It's definitely important to find the right methods for doing this.

Conversely, on the bed time routine end of things, having a set of steps that is independent of the sunshine is a good way of letting the body know it's time to wind down/go to bed and get sleepy on it's own. I love a warm shower, lotion, listening to a chill podcast or ambient noise, and maybe some lavender in the diffuser, all help me. --Shannon (team member)

    1. Excellent question: blackout curtains and fans/AC! If the fan doesn't cover the noise a soundscape or playlist that covers any noise coming from outdoors. Having a consistent time and series of events helps let my body know what should happen and when.

    2. Thank you for those ideas. Have you tried white or brown noise? Scott AlzheimersDisease.net Team Member
