Do I agree with my wife when she forgets?

I just joined the group. I have been seeing some signs of dementia in my wife for about a year. Last month she got pneumonia and spent a week in the hospital and then a week in rehab. Because she is so weak and our bedrooms are upstairs, we got her a hospital bed for downstairs and I sleep on the couch. This morning she said that she wanted to go home. I said that we were home. I asked if she wanted to pet our dog to prove it. She said again that she wanted to go home. So I thought I’d would just agree. A little while later she asked if I was taking the dog for a walk, like I do every morning. Thanks for the group.

  1. , we are happy that you are here with our community. I am glad your wife is home with you and on the mend. I know it's hard to observe the changes in the ones we love and care about. If you haven't already, has your wife visited her healthcare provider and been evaluated for dementia? Our editorial team has an article about identifying early signs of dementia and Alzheimer's. I thought of you when I came across https://alzheimersdisease.net/living/identifying-early-signs. Our community is always here, so join us anytime for support, questions, and a listening ear. 1. Hi , it can be much easier to enter our LO's reality than trying to convince them of our reality. The reality they are experiencing is very real to them. - It seems like that tactic worked well in that instance. - Warmly, Donna (team member)
