Jump to late stage

My mom has had Alzheimer's for about 7 years now. She is in the memory ward. She recently declined to late stage, although can still talk a little at times, she can't walk or feed herself, has to wear briefs, doesn't watch tv anymore and just goes in a trance like state. 2 months ago she was walking with a walker. I think her fall which required 8 staples to her head made her worse. I am very depressed over the change worrying her time is near.

  1. Hi @rabbitguru,
I'm sorry to hear about your mom's fall, and I understand your fear. Falls and Alzheimer's are kind of a chicken and the egg type thing. The loss of balance and spatial awareness can increase the risk of falls, and the loss of activity, which can help with increased blood flow and neurogenesis (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7113559/).

Please know that we are here to support you. Sending (((hugs))) and positive energy.

    Warmly, Donna (team member)
