Less common symptoms

Besides the symptoms of memory impairment and thinking impairment, I have significant apathy. I am 71 years old. I was diagnosed one year ago with Alzheimer’s disease. I am also experiencing dizziness and some visual disturbances. Would appreciate knowing if anybody else has these symptoms and how you are coping. Thank you

  1. I’m so sorry your experiencing these symptoms. Find the things that you love doing focus on enjoying your life and don’t pay no mind to the disease. Take some yoga clases, meditate take vacations if you can. May god bless you 🙏🏼🥰

    1. Hi there . These symptoms are common; Alzheimer's tends to affect some senses, and it can vary from person to person, so you are certainly not alone in your experience!

      1. Amanda, thank you for your response. The symptoms are really impacting the quality of my life. My doctors are aware. Do you have any suggestions for treatments?

    2. Amanda, thank you for your response. These symptoms are really impacting the quality of my life. Even when I feel like doing something, the dizziness and unsteadiness makes it so difficult. Do you know of any treatments for these?

      1. , I would discuss with your doctor and see what they recommend for you. There are certain treatments available, but your doctor should evaluate you closer to see if this is related to Alzheimer's or something else. While the symptoms you mention are not uncommon in Alzheimer's, they are also not exclusive to the disease. There are other ailments that can cause those types of symptoms as well. So my best recommendation would be to bring your concerns back to your primary doctor!

      2. I was rereading this and I feel that the dizziness and unsteadiness could be the result of other things. I get this way at times and I know other blood relatives do as well. I am not offering medical advice but I think there are tests that could help you figure it out when you talk with your doctor. Scott AlzheimersDisease.net Team Member
