My person keeps scratching himself. Any advice?

Hi everyone my person scratches himself alot and bleeds then picks himself. Help thanks in advance

  1. , While you're waiting for feedback from the community I wanted to share that skin-picking is common and is caused by changes in the brain. Sometimes using moisturizer and long sleeves or protective clothing helps. You can also distract him with a task when you see him picking.

If the scratching and picking persists, your doctor may be able to help. - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

    2. Thanks, Gladys

      1. Hi Gladys. Thanks for being here with us. Our community is great at sharing, and with Donna's suggestions, you'll have some solid recommendations and ideas to try. While my father didn't scratch his skin like the one you care for, I used an oatmeal-based soap and lotion to soothe his dry skin better. Maybe you would like to introduce some fidgets, or if they'd like, they can hold a stuffed animal to avoid picking and scratching. Please let us know if you have additional questions or ideas to share with our community. Respectfully, Nancy Alzheimersdisease.net Team Member

    3. Thanks for your suggestions, I'll see if any of the above mentioned works.
