Who do you turn to for support?

Whether you're a caregiver or living with Alzheimer's, everyone needs support.

  1. I have Early Onset Alzheimer's. My family is a tremendous support system for me. However, Memory Warriors is a good on-line Facebook support system for me as well because it's members are going, have gone through, or expect to go through, the same things I am.

    1. Thank you for this information. I'd like to find a group in the St. Louis, MO area too.

    2. Is there an alzheimers.org there in St. Louis? Scott AlzheimersDisease.net Team Member

  2. , I wanted to thank you for sharing your diagnosis with our community. I am so glad that your family is such a good support system for you. Please know that our community is here for you and that we are thinking of you. Warmly, Pam-Community Moderator

    1. I agree that we all need support!💜 I have my husband who was recently diagnosed with cancer, I have my family, I have my staff that visit weekly, I have our church who visits every week and my friends who visit every week! I know it might seem like a lot but actually it keeps me communicating and more able to function . I was even able to speak at my best friend's memorial service something I never thought would have been possible but because people care about me I am able to continue to find a place in society that is no longer dependent on my need no remember what I had for breakfast or the name of someone. Compassion goes a very long way and I had to learn to give myself Grace and dignity in order to hope that my future would be free of the traditional worries of trying to remember your name. @DonnaFA @

    2. , I love hearing that from you! Who you are in your core is your gift to the world. Some of the conversations I treasure most have been with people who called my Diane or Debbie. It's the connection that matters.

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I'm sending healing his way. I'm also sorry for the loss of your friend. It sounds like you are dealing with everything with grace.

I've been thinking about you, and was going to post on your profile today to see how you were doing. I was glad to see your post. -Warm (((hugs))), Donna (Team Member)

  4. I am in an Eli Lilly study as I am early onset Alzheimers. My brother and girlfriend accompany me to my appointments. They are a great help, but I'd like to find a group so that I don't wear them out.

    1. Thank you for sharing. So glad that you have help that accompanies you. Scott AlzheimersDisease.net Team member

    2. I am very glad that you have family that accompanies you to appointments. Also, glad you found Alzheimersdisease.net. We have a great community here. I have attached a link for some virtual support groups that the Alzheimer's Association holds, for individuals with early onset diagnosis. Might be an additional opportunity for support for you. https://www.alz.org/wi/helping-you/early-stage-programs. If you have any further questions -just reach back out.
