Hi @CommunityMember3b76ab, It's a huge change and it can be frightening. Ask your friends and associates with family in local homes, and even take a tour yourself.
There are bad places, to be sure, but there are also very good places. When I decided to be a CNA, I knew the kind of places I didn't want to work. I toured several facilities and found a local facility run by the Mennonite community, The home WAS like a home, there is a high level of interaction with the residents and a very family-like atmosphere. I gained many grandmas and grandpas while working there, and it remains one of the most positive experiences of my life.
I'm sending you some positive energy for finding a place that will feel welcoming, and that you can be confident will be your home. - Warm (((hugs))), Donna (team member)
