after losing my mom to dementia

My mom had Alzheimer’s- We had her tested by local dr that specializes in this area..

My Dad probably had a bit of it as well ( both in their 80s).

4 years After they both passed away, I was diagnosed with Mild Dementia at age 70. 😢 That was hard to accept but Thankful my Brother was with me for my Dr Visit and who keeps an eye on me regularly .

Curious if any others who have it, had a parent with it as well ?

I am trying to get as much education in this to hopefully do the right things to prevent further damage.

  1. Thank you for your reply. I am curious as well. I will be interested in what our community has to say. How great it is that your brother has been with you. Always like to see families involved. Scott AlzheimersDisease.net Team Member

    1. Hi , I wanted to check in with you and see how your research went and if you found anything helpful. How are you doing today? - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

      1. As stated above my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at probably age 70-75 . I was recommended to see Dr Clinosky in Springfield for testing .

My mom had no ability to use a typewriter by then or to grasp where we were or answer questions . My Dad was there as well - he tried caring for her at home w my help but eventually mom needed to be in a nursing home. She collapsed in the hall and we got her to the hospital asap.

Now I am in my early 70s and have been tested with a lot of video q&A and recommendations. A “Dr” that had diagnosed my mom now is my doctor . The testing on computer screens I found more confusing .
I have support and help from my brother and friends .

I do not think there is a magic pill unfortunately
