care taker support

I have the beginning stages of dementia and have found discussion groups for people with dementia but have no groups or discussions for the care takers. Do you know of any of these session in the San Dinsego area?

  1. I don't know of any local caretaker groups, but I am a caretaker myself as are many of us on this site. I recently became one only a year or so ago, and I had to learn so much in a short time. I am in a much better place now than I was when I started, it was soul-crushing at first and I thought my life was over. Sufficed to say it wasn't - thankfully, and we have reached an equilibrium that works for all of us. I know it's not an in-person support group but just know you are not alone and if there's anything we can do to help let us know. In the meantime you might try this article as a place to start: https://alzheimersdisease.net/caregivers/support-groups Keep on keepin' on, DPM

    1. Hi - We're so glad that you're here seeking support both for yourself and those who are helping you along this journey. The Alzheimer's Association has local chapters that your caregiver could reach out to find support groups - https://www.alz.org/local_resources/find_your_local_chapter. I hope this is helpful!
