Everybody needs somebody! Who do you rely on?

It's no secret that Alzheimer's disease can often be isolating for those individuals diagnosed and caregivers.
After you or a loved one was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, who did you turn to first? What did those initial conversations look like? What did you find most helpful?

  1. myself

    1. How are you doing? Scott (Team Member)

  2. When my husband and I got the diagnose for my Alzheimer’s it was my Doctor and my family that were the people we leaned on.

    1. Thank you for sharing. We're so glad that you have your healthcare team and family to support you. Is there anything that stands out to you from that support that you think would help others? What advice would you give to someone who is newly diagnosed (or their families)? Warmly, Patty, Team Member

    2. That is so great that you were able to get those supports in place. How important was good communication in getting help? Scott Team Member

  3. My husband and my best friend! They have been by my side through everything!

  4. New here. I didn't have anyone when I was caring for my mom. Friends disappeared, Family didn't have the time. Received Hospice care, but only towards the end and they weren't very helpful! Didn't learn about The Alzheimer's Association until after my mom passed away!!!!!!

    1. I am sorry to read this. I think you would have a lot to offer to our community about your personal experience since you have to do most of this on your own. What are some important lessons that you learned? Scott Team Member
