Live in partner

My live on partner has Dementia. Do I have any rights to make medical or social decisions?

  1. Great question! I personally do not know what rights you have in this situation. If you mean legal rights, then I am not sure but speaking to an attorney or social services in your area may help and be a good resource for you. These situations can be challenging for partners and caregivers and I think understanding what local resources are available to you might help. Scott AlzheimersDisease.net Team member

    1. Hi ! As suggested, speaking to a legal attorney would be a great idea to help you understand what resources might be available, what rights you might have, and the paperwork you might need to fill out. Many in our community have sought counsel from elder attorneys. In the meantime, has written many articles on the legal terms and things you might want to consider when approaching these conversations. I'm linking to just one of those articles here, but there are links at the bottom that you might want to check out, too [https://alzheimersdisease.net/living/legal-terms-in-dementia-care] I hope these are helpful resources.
