OCD type behavior

My 55 year old daughter with downs syndrome has started to copy words phrases from any things she gets her hands on. She also empties her bureau drawers full of clothes and puts them back in. If I try to help, she will swing at me. I’m at a loss as to how I can help her. She is APOI positive for Alzheimer’s

  1. , OCD can be common with Down's Syndrome. I found an article that may be helpful: https://bit.ly/40IBKYH - I hope you might find something useful there. - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

    1. I just saw your post and wanted to see how you were doing. I absolutely can understand your concerns regarding your daughter and her recent display of OCD like symptoms. It is difficult with changes in behavior. Yes it could be related to the Down's Syndrome diagnosis. However, knowing your daughter has a positive APOE for Alzheimer's, understandably has you more concerned. By any chance have you had a chance to speak to your daughter's doctor regarding her recent change in behavior? If not I would recommend you reach out. Please keep us posted and appreciate you sharing. Just Keep Swimming...Lynn Marie, Team Member"
