My journey with Altzheimer's

I am an 80 year old woman. I was diagnosed with Altzheimers 3 months ago. I am on Memantine. It seems to be holding it at bay. Mine is doctors not properly diagnosing it. Letting my blood get into the 250 and higher. So far I am managing with the help of my husband.

    1. , I'm glad to hear that the Memantine is keeping you even. I'm so sorry to hear about your blood sugar! That's quite high. Have they managed to get it under control at this point? - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

      1. It must have been very scary for you when you were diagnosed with Alzheimer's! I hope your BP is being monitored. Mine went up last week and I have a nurse who comes out to check it. I am 62 and I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago. Home healthcare can keep you independent for a long time and my staff are the nicest people! You might want to check it out. Take good care. @DonnaFA

        1. , I so much appreciate you jumping in and sharing your experience! I know that it means a lot! I'm so glad that you have found a wonderful team to share the walk with you. Your confidence has grown by leaps and bounds since we first talked, and that is a beautiful thing! - Warm (((hugs))), Donna (Team Member)

      2. It took so long for me to move to acceptance. I was grieving for my dying ego. Once she passed away I could let go of the things I was holding on to for so long. It has been a journey. I am so grateful to have this site so I could have a place to share my thoughts!

        1. I now flagged our emails so my answers aren't so haphazard!💜It to me so long to figure out if I just flagged the email then I can remember to answer it! @DonnaFA

        2. , that's a great tip! I do the same thing, and sometimes when you are working with something everyday, it's harder to think of just simple tricks to make things manageable. Then when it occurs to you, you wonder why it didn't occur to you sooner - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)
