My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's over one year ago. Thank God, up to now, she has shown few to none of the horrible signs and symptoms often associated with Alzheimer's. I do my best to support and assist her in daily living, none of which is beyond my capacity. However, worrier that I am, I often wonder when the other shoe, or shoes, will drop. Most of the accounts I hear and read about Alzheimer's are mid-range to late stage, and they are frightening. I want to ready myself. So far, the best advice I can share are two points: 1. Live as though and treat her as "normal" as can be. 2. Avoid isolation and provide plenty of socialization for her. As the Bible teaches, "as thy days, so shall they strength be."
