Diagnosed at 49

I am writing to share an update regarding my health and some recent changes in my life. As you may know, I was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s on October 24, 2025, at the age of 49.

After 25 years in a successful IT career, my daily routine has shifted significantly. I am now focusing my time on staying active through social media and engaging with my long-standing passion for politics. While I am working to stay positive, this transition has been challenging. To manage expenses while I wait for my disability benefits to be processed, I recently made the difficult decision to sell my car.

My family is currently processing this news in their own ways. My brother has expressed concerns regarding his own health, and we recently met with the team at Be Well Infusions to better understand the results of my PET scan and related tests.

Reflecting on the time I spent caring for my parents during their battles with cancer in 2009, I have decided to move forward with intravenous therapies. While I am realistic about the terminal nature of this diagnosis, I want to pursue these options so that my family can have peace of mind knowing we explored every available path.

Thank you for your time and for your continued support during this period.

Best regards, Jen

My fleeting memory

  1. Hi I am so glad to hear you are focusing on things that bring you joy, although I can imagine this shift has been challenging. Are you in an area with easy access to public transportation? I hope that without your car, you are still able to get around without any hassle. If you don't mind sharing, what were the results of your PET scan? Did you receive a cancer diagnosis? It sounds like you are advocating for yourself and being proactive in searching for various treatments. We are here to support you. Please keep us updated on how you are doing. Jill (Team Member)
