Reclaiming your identity as a caregiver

As a caregiver or care partner to someone living with Alzheimer's disease, the lines between your role as a caregiver and your sense of self can be blurred.

What are some ways you reclaim your identity? Whether it be changing up your style, prioritizing hobbies, or random acts of self-care throughout the day, we're curious what strategies help you come back to yourself.

  1. For me, it’s the little things a walk, a creative endeavor, a few minutes of time spent in peaceful contemplation doing something for me and me alone. Being a caregiver is important but remembering that I’m a person myself also enables me to be a better caregiver.

  2. For me, catching up on a call or getting to practice my hobbies can make me feel whole again. Anything can make a difference
