Will I get dementia?

My oldest sister died October 25 from dementia. Now it is me and my middle sister left. Wondering what the chances are of us getting dementia?

  1. Hi Bonnie, I'm so sorry for the loss of your sister. I'm sending light and love. There are some risk factors - https://alzheimersdisease.net/risk-factors - that you can try to mitigate. And there are new tests that can help diagnose: https://alzheimersdisease.net/research-studies/diagnosis-blood-test. Have a day filled with peace in your heart. -Warmly, Donna (team member)

    1. Hi , it's been a while, and I wanted to check in with you to see how you're doing today. Did you and your sister decide to seek genetic testing? - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

      1. My wife and I have recently downsized to a housing development primarily for older people. One of those living here is a doctor who has recently retired. He is part of a group developing a process so younger people can determine their chances of developing Alzheimers or other forms of dementia. There are some things out there already and LOTS being developed. Stay in touch with your neurologist, make sure he is up on the latest, and you keep checking on things as well. This is changing fast now and and that speed is only going to get faster.
